Genuine, Authentic Hope For Broken Hearts!
A broken heart is an experience all of us pass or will eventually have to pass through, it is imminent. But where to turn when you have no one close to understand? On the other hand, maybe you have all the dear ones around but they don’t have the means to help anyway. God promises" I will watch over you!"There are countless situations, so various in people’s lives when they think it is all over, all hope is gone. I know a case, my own mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer and the doctors told her that her chance was one of a thousand! They believed she probably had 18 more months to live…I don’t think we can imagine a pain like that, the pessimistic thoughts that come shooting and poisoning every breath! We can’t imagine unless we have been in the very same situation. Thank God, she was indeed the one who had that chance, as it has been 10 years since her operation and she is doing fine.

Your situation might differ, you probably lost your loved one or maybe you’ve been cheated on, abandoned or abused…oh there are so many reasons!

I want to remind you of a case of a man who literally has lost everything he had in one day; he was a prosperous business man, had children, servants, he had everything. Yet, one day the fatality occurred: in a single day, he lost all his possessions and all his children, all in the same day! What a shock!

Here is how it happened:" One day when Job's sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, and the Sabeans attacked and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, "The fire of God fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, "Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!" Job …13-19

At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said:

"Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised."

What’s more, his health was destroyed and his own wife was exasperated:" Satan … afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head…His wife said to him, "Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!" Job 2:8a-9

It is absolutely normal to have those feelings when the situation seems without exit. Solomon himself sustains:

"Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad." Pro 12:25

"A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed." Pro 15:13

In such distress, remember:

1. God is willing to answer your cry for help!

"For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help." Psalm 22:24

2. God is close to you!

"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all" Psalm 34:18-19

3. If your sins are not forgiven ask God to forgive you.

"Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish. Look upon my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. Psalm 25:16-18

4. God assures you that He Himself will be the One to lead you!

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8

Yes, you are not alone in any situation; God Himself is willing to mend the wounds of your broken heart, regardless of what might have brought it to peaces! He will lead you, counsel you, and support you all the way. Don’t hesitate to ask Him! You have nothing to lose and you will gain life forever, love and strength!
