A Noble Woman Is The Crown Of Her Husband!

A Noble Woman Is The Crown Of Her Husband!
What should the qualities of a good wife (or future wife for that matter) be? Look at the advice Solomon presents, his views of an excellent woman are not just an advice, they are precious advice! You can consider yourself a privileged man if you have a good wife! King Solomon himself discusses the matter referring to it very clearly and maybe a bit abrupt, but he underlines the importance of being wedded to an excellent woman, he calls her "the crown" of her husband, which enhances the fact that her husband is proud to have such a wife, in other words, she is highly respected and admired:

"A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, but a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones." Proverbs 12:4

If you are not married yet, it is even more motivating to observe the fact that God Himself is the One who grants a man such a favor (a good wife); it is not necessarily the intelligence of the man in finding her. I am not saying that you shouldn’t use every neuron that you possess in making the decision to marry! On the contrary, do that!

Open your eyes, but as you know, we are only people with limited perspective and a narrow horizon, consequently, it is very smart to ask advice from God when you want to make such an important decision. He sees our lives from the beginning to the end and is familiar with our character, that’s why God can be the greatest advisor in this matter. To have the discernment to opt for the perfect wife (perfect for you) is indeed a blessing from God!

"House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Yahweh." Proverbs 19:14

"Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh." Proverbs 18:22

Whom you shouldn’t marry

On the other hand, Solomon knows how life with a "bitter–tongued and angry" woman is, therefore, if you haven’t already chosen, take a good look and make sure your future wife is not in that category:

"It is better to be living in an angle of the house-top, than with a bitter-tongued woman in a wide house." Proverbs 21:9

"It is better to be living in a waste land, than with a bitter-tongued and angry woman." Proverbs 21:19

"A continual dropping on a rainy day and a contentious wife are alike." Proverbs 27:15

The characteristics of an excellent wife

In the last book of Proverbs, the Sayings of King Lemuel sheds light on what a good wife character should comprise, he also marks that a wife of noble character is to be treasured to a high degree:

1. Gains the trust of her husband:

"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value."

2. Knows how to handle the economy of her house:

"She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls.
She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers."

3. Charity is her friend:

"She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy."

4. She knows what she is good at and uses that to make profit, quite a businesswoman I’d say:

"When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.

5. She doesn’t lack self-esteem:

"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."

6. She speaks wisely:

"She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness."

This is why she is so appreciated:

"Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."

7. She is faithful to God:

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised."

Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31:10-31

I will end with Solomon’s words of wisdom:

"Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your life of vanity, which he has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity: for that is your portion in life, and in your labor in which you labor under the sun." Ecclesiastes 9:9

In addition, for those of you who are not married yet, good luck in finding a great wife!

P.S. Don’t forget to ask for God’s advice!
