Character Description
After spending a year in juvenile prison Carsen returns home struggling with the ineffable question of ?Who am I?. He walks down the cruel, violent and drug abusive streets of his home in Manhattan. He walks and reminisces as he sees naive leaders emerge. He saddens at the excitement of violence and glamour that lours boys in. Familiar faces surround him, but no one would recognise the battered up leader who was once their superior. Prison aloud Carsen the time to think, something that he hadn?t done for years. He though about how he got caught up with the glamour?s of his gang. He had whatever he desired, untouchable was what the called him. He obeyed and in return lived without a care in the world.
He always wanted the easy way out. He dropped out of school and quit his job. Carsen wanted more and that is what he got the day he joined a gang. For once in his life he felt like he belonged, as if he was apart of something. Everyone blamed Carsen?s mistakes and faults on his parents. Although his parents died when he was three, their death from a drug overdose had a great impact on him. Carsen lived in foster care ever since that incident. He was very distressed and troubled there, but after what happened, no one could blame him for being so. His only friend was a girl named Rosemary who struggled with the same insecurities as he did. He confided in her until she was also taken from him. Carsen looks down the alley that changed his life. The alley where he was caught selling his stash. He wonders how it would have been or could have been. Was he meant for something or someone? Is their some purpose to his existence? He doesn?t know where to go. All he knows is that prison saved him from something out there and gave him another chance. In prison, Carson was thought morals and principals that his foster home never cared to enforce or teach. The stories of how drug money is used and the men being killed opened his eyes to what he was really doing in his gang. Their remains an empty feeling in his stomach, he?s still looking for more. Carsen continues to walk down the streets and searches to be apart of something. Analyzing Creative Writing In my descriptive writing, I wanted to portray someone that everyone could relate to and learn from. My character is someone who faces a lot of difficulties yet still has the power and motivation to live on, succeed and move forward. Someone who realises that it is alright to make mistakes and still want to accomplish something with their lives. Carsen is someone who starts with having nothing, but knows he deserves more. This is significant to me because if Carsen can get over all the troubles he has faced, then whatever happens or happened to me will be possible to get over as well. I also think that people should believe like Carsen does that they deserve more than what they have. Carsen acts as a motivation to people. I though about this idea because it is the way I think peoples mind set should be like. If you make a mistake you should just move on with your life and search for an answer or something more. There are obviously consequences to your actions, but you will get over them. I think that people spend too much time dwelling in their mistakes and what they don?t have. They should take what they have and make something out of it. I think that the strong point in my character description is that people can feel for the character and relate to him.
