Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning
Strategic planning cause one to be dedicated working towards having a successful
business. Being a Christian and having a relationship with God, one day when praying to the Lord about having extremely bad financial problems He spoke to me and said, ?As a carpenter I used my hands to work.? God is tired of giving His people visions for businesses that fall through because we do not follow through. He left me with the saying, ?Doing it for Jesus (difj).? When I went to awaken my son for school, he jumped up and said, ?Just do it momma.? To me this was confirmation to start a business. When defining ?Doing it for Jesus
Christian Bookstore and Accessories? the consumer I hope will have a mind set of a place filled with joy and family oriented.
difj Christian Bookstore will be introduced to the consumer by word of mouth, web-site, and flyers to start, but the long-term plan is to have a storefront. To define the business a logo trademark is being designed which will cause for some legal activity. The products that can be purchased will include: caps, bumper stickers (advertisement), wristbands, ink pens, book page savers, and t-shirts. Once the business expands there will be other products included. Products can also be purchase during church convention at difj booth and the yearly Convention Center Entrepreneur Event. Several churches have agreed to purchase products including Faith Miracle Temple Church which I am a member. However, to take the necessary steps a swott Analysis is required by looking at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Strengths will include good customer service, legal matters correct, maintaining continue growth, and all working for the same purpose. Weaknesses would be not supplying the customer their needs and bad customer service. Threats will include adding expenses that are not needed and not being aware of the competitors. Opportunities will be business expanding, opening more then one store, and differentiating. Let us talk a little more on differentiating. Differentiation is whatever difj use to stand out from its competitors. There are three techniques that could perhaps deliver in an impact manner and attract the consumer. One is presenting a gift once a month to the 100th customer that purchases an item of $20 or more. Secondly, have employee and self dress as a biblical character or a biblical cartoon character on Saturdays between the hours of 11 to 3pm. The final technique will be to have story time from 1 to 2pm on Saturdays as well. All challenges that occur are results from a strong mission and vision statement that is extremely important to develop success.
The vision and mission statement has changed sense more knowledge about strategic planning has occurred. Vision Statement: To take pleasure serving all who seek to renew minds with a word of knowledge, encourage others, and provide what is required for spiritual growth by sharing what ministers to each particular desire. Mission Statement: We share with you exceptional service by providing religious literature, souvenirs, and trinkets for all denominations, adults, and children of all ages. Values: Doing it for Jesus utilizes providing a family environment to all consumers as well as the suppliers and giving hope by being knowledgeable, honest, and available to all according to the word of God. The mission, vision, and value statement is to be taken serious and applied daily by all employees. Everyone including the customer will have access to the mission statement, which will be framed and place in the store.
The values when having a Christian bookstore one will have to be extremely cautious because all eyes are on you. Ones values must line-up with the word of God. Galatians 5:22-23 reads, ?But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance against such there is no law.? In other words, one must represent the product they sale and walk the walk when in the Christian business. Social responsibility requires one to act with concern and sensitivity, aware of the impact of your actions on others, particularly the disadvantaged (Entrepreneur.Com, 2008). By contributing to the community open doors to enhance the business. I am a member of ?Big Brothers and Sisters? which happens to be a good organization for one to join. Participating in this organization helps one to give another hope and love. difj plans are to donate to certain organizations in the community once the business develops. When thinking of values one must also cover the topic of culture.
Defining culture is the totality of socially transmitted behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and all other products of human work and thought (The Free Dictionary, 2008). Organizational culture is the critical foundation which shapes the way that the work of the organization gets done (established through goals, plans, measures, rewards) and the infrastructure (systems process and structures) gets utilized (Culturestrategyfit 2008). Employees must feel safe and know that the manager door is always open to them if any problem occurs whether personal or work related. All employees will take customer service training to boost the customer loyalty level. Getting understanding in all your doing is the knowledge of success.
Overall, the vision, mission, and values statements are unquestionably the key to strategic direction. Without these statements the business is unclear of where it is, where it?s going, how to get started, what the goals are, what products are needed and what group of people is your focus point. The vision is the opportunities, mission describes what you are doing, and values put a form to your actions. Each of these concepts is important for business and personal success depending on how well you identify and live by them.
In conclusion, theoretically before strategic planning take place a vision, mission, and values are needed to lay the foundation and cornerstone. Differentiating is essential to helping one become first at what is being marketed. Culture and social responsibility are both a way of how work get done, but remembering that satisfying your employee is just as important as satisfying the consumer. swott Analysis is the step needed for perfection by knowing your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and trends. difj Christian Bookstore and Accessories can be a successful business when all statements are applied daily to serve the consumer, suppliers, and family as well. There is a saying that, ?practice make perfect.?
