Computer Engineer

Computer Engineer
Computer engineering is a very time consuming, challenging job. To be a good computer engineer you need years of experience and collage education. Computer engineers provide information and data processing for certain computer firms and organizations. They conduct research, design computers, and discover and use new principles and ideas of applying computers. I am going to tell you specific facts about the careers of computer engineers like payment, education needed, skills, responsibilities of the job, job outlook, and benefits of the job.Computer engineering started about 5,000 years ago in China when they invented the abacus. The abacus is a manual calculator in which you move beads back and forth on rods to add or subtract. Other inventors of simple computers include Blaise Pascal who came up with the arithmetic machine for his father?s work. Also Charles Babbage produced the Analytical Engine, which combined math calculations from one problem and applied it to solve other complex problems. The Analytical Engine is similar to today?s computers.
Occupation?s Duties
A computer engineer has certain duties and responsibilities depending on the location and size of the firm he or she works for. Also the duties vary between job levels. If you work at a small firm, you will be set up on the firing line immediately and will be expected to make your boss money or you?ll be fired. Also in a smaller firm you?ll probably spend hours of pain-staking time trying to solve a problem that other engineers probably went over before.
In larger firms, you?ll be hired probably as a junior computer engineer and work your way up to senor and maybe manager of engineers.
If you enjoy challenging work and problem solving, your best place to be is in a small firm. If you enjoy problem solving but not to the severe degree as in a small firm, then your place is in a larger firm. Overall, the responsibilities and duties are basically the same. These duties include preparing cost benefit analysis on programs, determining copter soft and hardware needs, and debugging computers to eliminate errors.

Benefits
The benefits of being a computer engineer are unique to those people who like having challenges put in-front of them to solve. This job puts you in challenging positions that you have to problem solve to get out of. Also computer engineers have the ability to fix or even their own computers. Computer engineers get paid vacations, holidays, and sick days. Also they get life and health insurance, not to mention retirement benefits.
The pay and wadges of a computer engineer range from $20,000 to over $65,000 a year. Working in the government as a beginning computer engineer pays the lowest, about $21,00. To be able to get a well paying job out of school, you?re best bet is to get experience while in school. You can either intern at a firm or work as an assistant in your collage?s computer lab, if they have one.

Education and other Requirements
To be an engineer you need several years of school and experience. You need a minimum of a bachelor?s or master?s degree. Whenever you go to collage you will take classes in data processing, computer programing, computer engineering, and electronics. After getting out of school you?ll need several years of experience since when you get out of school you really know very little. So while you?re in collage you should try to get as much experience as you can by volunteering as an assistant in the campus computer lab as I said before or intern at a firm.
While in highschool, there are courses you can take to help prepare yourself or just see whether or not you have a definite interest in computer engineering. The classes include all math classes like algebra, geometry, calculus and trigonometry. Other classes are electronics, English, and computer processing.

Job Outlook
Computer engineering has a very promising outlook to it. Computer specialists are in rising demand and will keep rising. Whenever you start out at a firm you?ll start as a junior computer engineer. In time you?ll work your way up to senor engineer and then manager of engineers. Executive engineers are the highest level of engineer and take many years of experience to get. They?re paid way more than regular engineers because people that have what it takes to make executive engineers are rare. People who make executives need market outlook and management skill.

Your Feelings
Computer engineering to me, has some good things and bad. Computer engineering is a very challenging job and I like that. I?m also very interested in the computer industry. In addition, I like the idea of helping other people with their computer needs.
I also know of a few bad things about computer engineering. These things include spending long hours in front of computers which may cause eye strain or even Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
I think eventually that I?d get over those since my interest in computer engineering out weighs all the bad things.
Conclusion
Computer engineering is a very stressful job for those people who want it. Anyone who?s interested can see the benefits and positive things about computer engineering out weigh the bad. The education, duties, benefits, job outlook, and responsibility are all included in this report. I hope I have in some way persuaded you to look more into computer engineering. Now is the perfect time to get in the field of computers, demand is high, and so is payment. Computer engineering is the perfect place for those people who thrive on challenges.
