HOMEWORK?
My stand on homework is somewhat negative. I believe that homework affects teenagers more than most people may think. (It is really stressful) I agree with the idea of putting a limit on how much homework teachers should put on students. I don’t think that they should just limit the homework but in way there can be a compromise on this subject. Lets say that there was a limit on how much homework is given, sense this in affect there should be a deal where I must join an after school activity. See I do sports all year long for the school. Playing sports is very stressful on me because I have to go to practice every single day, go to games or meets during the week sometimes even on Saturdays, also I have all this homework to do. See when teachers give out homework they don’t take in account what other homework students have to do and it just keeps pilling up. I know if I didn’t do sports or any other after school activities also if I didn’t socialize with my friends and stayed home from 3 to 7 I could be passing all my classes with flying colors. See most of the time I have to do my homework whenever I can. That’s pretty much all I think about when I’m doing other things like sports and even in class I try to plan it out, but things seem to never workout as you want them to. So you compromise, just do some homework and do the rest in class. By doing so you miss out on many things during class time when you should be learning the things that help you do your homework and it causes you to do even worse which causes you to become even more stressed until you decide you don’t want to be stressed out anymore and not do anything at all. This doesn’t even take in account all the other things that teenagers of this generation have to deal with. The idea of limiting homework and having an alternate choice would greatly increase students grades and may even help those physically challenged people in America. And they wonder why there are so many fat people here. Here is my other idea to the compromise instead of having to join some after school activity, the school should extend the school day or even have an all year school schedule like some schools do around the country but for this compromise there should not be any homework at all. I believe any of these compromises would greatly increase the grades and scores of students. The limiting of homework would help to keep students less stress, get more sleep, and pay attention more in class. Many of the researches and studies on homework have not taken in account the students who do after school activities like sports and work. But most do agree that overloading students with homework doesn’t necessarily mean better grades. Many students who work do not choose to work as if most people do but they work to support themselves and even their families. In reading this paper I hope it as widen your thoughts on homework and its effects it has on some students for not all students have the same circumstances as others.http://www.oppapers.com/essays/Homework/147293
