Integrity

Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes. In western ethics, integrity is the quality of having an intuitive sense of honesty and truthfulness in regard to the motivations for one's actions. Be a person of your word. If you say you are going to do something, if you promise, keep it. People tend to think you are a fake if you say one thing at the moment and then do something else when the time comes. Be honest. If you tell someone something (when asked of course) , keep to what you believe and stand by what you have said to be known the truth. Not everyone possesses this quality, people like to think they have integrity but their track record speaks for itself. Facts are facts. Just work on you, forget about others. They will eventually and hopeful, will find their way to the path of being someone of integrity, without it. The good thing about character and integrity, which are related, is that they're one of the few things in life that no one will ever be able to forcefully take away from you. Your choices are your own. Even if someone can take your life, they can't force you to make a choice that you believe is wrong. Character is who you are. It defines you and guides your actions, hopefully in a positive way. Character is an evaluation of a individual’s moral qualities. It can also be a variety of attributes including the existence of lack of virtues such as integrity, courage, fortitude, honesty and loyalty, or of good behaviors or habits. When someone is a moral character, it is primarily referring to the qualities that distinguish one individual from another. The United States Air Force Academy definition is "We define character as the sum of those qualities of moral excellence that stimulate a person to do the right thing, which is manifested through right and proper actions despite internal or external pressures to the contrary." That is a very good statement! Once your character has been destroyed how long do you think it would take for others to trust you again? Would your character ever be totally repaired? Would there always be a hint of question surrounding you? The world may never know, because everybody is different. Character is who we really are. It's what we do when no one is looking. It is the accumulation of thoughts, values, words and actions. These become the habits that comprise our character. That character determines our destiny. I know for a fact that I am a owner of both integrity and character. Trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship is what it takes to have good character. If you are trustworthy, you are honest, loyal, and reliable you do what you say you’ll do. You have the courage to do the right thing, and you don’t deceive, cheat or steal. Showing respect means being considerate of others and tolerant of differences. It also means using good manners. Being responsible means, using self-control. You think before you act and consider the consequences. If you are fair, you play by the rules, take turns, and share. You are also open- minded, and you listen to others. A caring person is kind and compassionate. A good citizen obeys laws and rules and respects authority. Being a good neighbor and cooperating with others are also parts of good citizenship.
