Ever since we were little kids every one of us no matter what our religion, was taught that hell is a bad place, and that nobody should want to go there. We were told that only bad people or people who did bad things would end up there. In Sunday school they would teach me the Ten Commandments. They said that you should obey these commandments, because if you didn't you would be a "bad person". The Seventh Commandment which you can find in the book of Exodus in the New King James Bible states, "Thou shall not commit adultery." Adultery can be defined as extramarital sex, voluntary sexual relations between a married person and somebody other than his or her spouse, having sex without being married.

I was told by my parents and church members that sex outside marriage is at best wrong, and at worst deadly. Personally, I think if you are going to have sex outside of marriage you should do it safely. According to my church there is no such thing as safe sex. They teach that the only 100 percent way to keep from getting pregnant or contracting sexual diseases is by not having sex, which is true.

Growing up as a teenager I was constantly confronted with sex, in my daily life. I felt sexual influenced by some of my friends, and things around me. Sex is portrayed in many different ways, but rarely as something to be cherished, treated with respect, and practiced within the bounds of marriage. Just think, anytime you turn on the television there are sitcoms and commercials that are showing sexual acts, you can also hear erotic lyrics when you turn on the radio. In high school I had a few girlfriends that I became intermit with, even though I knew it was not to the approval of my parents or the church. It was hard, having to sneak behind their backs, but I didn't want them to think badly of me if they found out. I knew that they thought that having sex outside of marriage was wrong.

I think that people should realize that they are taking both a mental and physical risk by engaging in sexual activity. I guess that is why the church urges young people to wait for that special person that they can trust.
