Writing a paper or essay does not simply mean to research and write the paper. It also includes the different types of formatting from which you should choose. There are many types and you should use the format according to the instructions of your professor depending on the kind of essay or dissertation required. The different type of formatting styles are APA, MLA and Chicago style paper.
APA format paper (American Psychological Association):
* Your paper should be computer generated in a standard white paper.
* The whole paper should be double spaced with one inch margin on all four sides.
* The font should be Times New Roman or its similar equivalent and the font size should be 10-12.
* There should be a page header on the top right hand corner of every page.
* The header should contain the first two or three words of the title followed by a tab space and then the page number.
* The paper should be cited properly. All the proper nouns should be capitalized.
* The use of quotes should be perfect with double quotes for all titles of other works.
* If abstracts are used from other sources, they should be italicized.
MLA format paper (Modern Language Association):
* Your paper should be computer generated in a standard white paper.
* The whole paper should be double spaced with one inch margin on all four sides.
* The font should only be Times New Roman and the font size should be 12.
* Only a single space should be left after every punctuation mark.
* It is mandatory like any different type of formatting that there should be a page header on the top right hand corner of every page.
* The header should contain the surname of the author followed by a tab space and then the page number.
* When it is necessary it would be a good idea to provide emphasis. It is of importance that quotes are used in the right places for shorter works.
* All your endnotes, if you have any, should be provided in a separate page before the reference page.
* Use the right kind or citation in the right place.
Chicago style paper:
* The paper should begin with a title page with all the details instructed by the professor.
* The pages should be numbered at the right hand corner starting with the title page.
* The whole paper should be double spaced with one inch margin on all four sides.
* The font should only be Times New Roman and the font size should be 12.
