Deforestation is the conversion of forested areas to non-forested land, for uses such as: pasture, urban use, logging purposes, and can result in arid land and wastelands. The removal or destruction of significant areas of forest cover has resulted in an altered environment with reduced biodiversity. In many countries, deforestation is ongoing and is shaping climate and geography.

Deforestation is the clearing away the land of trees and forests for commercial and agricultural uses. This problem dates back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, but it became a very popular and controversial issue throughout the twentieth century.
Stakeholders are ones that are affected by an outcome of something. Two stakeholders in this situation are soil and the people who live off the land. Some ways that soil or someone who studies soil, otherwise known as pedologists, would respond to this problem is by saying that people just don?t care and they don?t do anything about it. But, there are some solutions to deforestation and some of those solutions offered by pedologists would be to find other land to build on not by streams or any other waterways so it won?t cause runoff or extreme erosion. The people who depend on the land could protest or rally to try an end this problem. They suggest that the loggers should reduce the amount of forestry they cut down. This way, the people who really need the land, can use it properly and wisely.

last few years. Governments and large lumber companies see large profits in the
mass deforestation of forests and state that their actions are having few, if
any, harmful effects on the environment. Most people disagree with this and

Personal: There are many things that one can do personally to rectify the problem of Deforestation. These include such things as using wood sparingly, planting indigenous trees, purchasing the most ecologically sensitive products, recycling paper, reducing consumption of wood related products, communicating your opinions to the proper authorities, calling on forestry companies to act responsibly, and more. Education, however is the most effective catalyst for change, we must respect the forests as living communities not just resources to be exploited. Government: There are many things that governments are doing to rectify this problem. Probably the most effective of these are Forest Protection Schemes, Farm Forestry and plantations, and Raising Awareness/Education. First and foremost is the establishment of Forest Protection Schemes, which mainly aim at setting up National Parks and Forest Reserves. Although this is a very effective method it is not enough and such schemes tend to be used to justify destructive exploitation of unprotected areas of forest. Farm Forestry generally refers to the incorporation of commercial tree growing into farming systems.

The Rainforests are being destroyed, daily at alarming rates. The deforestation is caused by three main factors: Commercial Logging, Non-commercial Farming Operations and Commercial Agricultural Development, there are also many minor factors, but the biggest of these is Cocaine production.
Many sources pinpoint commercial logging as the primary culprit in tropical rainforest destruction. Logging damages the rainforest directly through the removal of commercially valuable timber species such as mahogany, rosewood, meranti, kapok and teak. Indirect damage occurs in several ways. As the desired trees fall, they pull down surrounding lianas and epiphytic growth (vines); a single tree and its epiphytes may harbor as many ant species as the British Isles. Injury to nearby trees also occurs. The World Wildlife Fund estimates that for every tree intently cut down, another 50 are fatally damaged. Another major indirect effect of logging is the increased access to the forest that logging roads provide for people. Influx of landless farmers then results in more forest degradation due to their shifting agricultural efforts.

In this essay I will be discussing what the Natural Balance is and what affect this is having on the Carbon Cycle. The balance between Photosynthesis and Respiration. The three main problem affecting the level of atmospheric Carbon Dioxide; Deforestation, World Population and Burning Fossil Fuels. The Natural Balance is the Balance between photosynthesis and Respiration. Photosynthesis is when plants use the energy from the sun to produce food for all animals and then turn it into glucose. Animal?s use this energy in respiration to live and grow without it all animals would die. The glucose is used to make sugars from the gas called Carbon Dioxide (CO2). Respiration is the process in which energy is released from plants. In respiration Glucose and Oxygen molecules are broken down to give Carbon Dioxide and water. We know that the atmosphere exchanges Carbon. Plants absorb Carbon Dioxide in Photosynthesis and release Carbon Dioxide back into the atmosphere during Respiration. All living things need to respire. This process is the natural balance that god created that the amount of Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen in the atmosphere remain constant.
