Plastic Not Paper

Plastic Not Paper
Walking through the grocery store I always try to look for the best buy.
I always buy what?s on sale, I guess you could say I?m cheep. Then I get to the
check out lane, preferably the one with fewer people. I empty my wallet and pay.
Then I wait. I think it?s going to happen but I am not sure. Then it does,
the baggier says, "Would you like paper or plastic?" I look that person right
in the eye and I tell him, "I want the one that?s better for the environment, I
want the one that will help prevent pollution, I want the one that cost less, I
want plastic." Plastic bags save money, they conserve energy, they are
practical and they are better for the environment.

Why Use Recycled Plastic Lumber?

The environmental and economical advantages of recycled plastic lumber products.

Othello

If you are not using the Tortilla Chef, first heat two heavy skillets, one over medium heat the other a little hotter. Press the dough balls between layers of smooth plastic (large zip lock bags cut into circles a little larger than your tortilla press are ideal). Peel off the top layer of plastic and invert the pressed dough onto the palm of your hand, then peel off the remaining layer of plastic.

Reuse in the Workshop

The workshop is a great place for reusing items formally destined for the landfill. Even if you do not have a shop or craft area you can always donate the items mentioned in the following paragraphs to friends, schools, shops, youth centers… The concept of reusing is as limitless as your imagination.

Recycling to Preserve Our Environment

Recycling to Preserve Our Environment
Many people assume that the environment is not in danger. They believe that as technology advances, we do not need to worry about renewing natural resources, recycling, and finding new ways to produce energy. They state that one person in the world does not make a large difference. In reality, each individual?s contribution greatly affects our environment. Our natural resources are slowly disappearing, and we must work together to save them and the Earth from ruin.
Recycling is important in the effort to preserve our environment for future generations. We are running out of locations to put landfills. Recycling is a simple and effective way to reduce the amount of waste stored in landfills, yet many people do not know how easy it can be. For example, whenever I go to Shoprite? and I bring home the groceries, I do not just throw away the plastic bags. Instead, I save them and use them as trash bags for the small trashcan in my room. It seems like a small, insignificant action, but the way I see it, I save money on trash bags while getting a second use out of the plastic bags. Some people would just throw away the bags and buy new trash bags, but doing that would send double the plastic bags to be filled in a landfill.

Media and Plastic Surgery

Media and Plastic Surgery
Images produced by the media will make people do almost anything to fit American standards of the perfect body. Plastic surgery offers a quick fix to help achieve this goal but no matter how much surgery nothing is perfect. Images produced by media, quick fixes and the outcome of the fixes are problems that women of all ages deal with.

Currently, there is much confusion over the definition of bioplastics
Mixture of Acids that could be made into bioplastics

Making Bioplastics, Etc.

Goal of Bioplastic Production

To Save Resources by either reducing the production of standard Polypropylene plastics by replacing it with a less resource-intensive plastic.
Or Save the Environment by making plastics biodegradable
Or, both!

The Process Of Recycling

The Process Of Recycling
Recycling was first thought of in 1776 during the war of Independence from England. Americans recycled scrap metals to help fight the war. But it wasn?t until 1895 when the first residential waste program in the U.S. was invented in New York. The chemistry behind recycling is the idea that ?everything circulates?. For instance, if you saved a box of cereal and put it into your recycling bin, that box of cereal can be made into a package of papers, or a newspaper, or a tissue box, and the possibilities are endless. Common household items that are recycled are newspapers and paper towels, aluminum, plastic, glass soft drink containers, steel cans, and plastic laundry detergent bottles.
