Same Sex Marriage

Same Sex MarriageBy eradicating the significance of the functional complementarity between men and women, those with ardent feminist agendas and with other ulterior motives may be seeking to (ultimately) undermine the humanity of males in our society; in other words, if men are already being pushed out of the lives of their children through systemically biased divorce and family law courts...

How nice is your Essay Outline Format?

An essay may be used to make an evaluation of a scholar’s understanding of a particular topic. One of the most common mistakes that scholars make in essay writing is applying the wrong essay outline format. In fact, very many writers need assistance with essay outline formatting.

An essay may be written for various purposes. However, the structure of most essays is the same. Following some basic steps will make essay writing quite easy for you. Avoid using cliché statements like “time after time” as well as arrow, vague and broad ones. In some cases, you should not state your personal opinions. Instead, only present clearly analytical claims. This, however, depends on the kind of essay that you are writing.

Essay outlines should give an overview of what is contained in your article; possibly the essay’s topics and subtopics written logically as they would appear in the essay. Furthermore the essay outline formats that you use should make it easy for you and your audiences to have a gist of the entire essay just by reading a few statements.

When the question is about the descriptive essay, we usually mean the essay in which the writer is describing different issues (a person, a place, a thing or even some abstract matter). This is quit a typical task that students get. But at the same time it is one of the stumbling-blocks, students face with. The thing is that very often, even though they are good at generating high quality prose, students find it hard to format their papers. One of the typical and most common formats their professors require them to work with is the Turabian style. Do you have to write one more college essay? Yes, in the beginning essay writing may seem interesting because essay is rather small academic paper and it is not necessary to make so many efforts to write it in comparison with dissertation writing or at least coursework writing. That’s why it seems to be interesting to write small academic paper on interesting themes and also have the possibility to express personal opinion about this theme. But if you have to write ten or more essays during the month, then essay writing doesn’t seem to be so interesting and attractive. That’s why usually after the first year of education students’ enthusiasm decreases greatly. They begin to irritate when it is necessary to write one more essay on very obscure theme concerning cannibalism or feminism. Boys will be very “glad” to write about feminism!

College Rankings: Looking Beyond the Numbers

College Rankings: Looking Beyond the Numbers
College Rankings: Looking Beyond the Numbers
U.S. News & World Report has released its latest rankings of the American’s Best Colleges 2010, and Harvard and Princeton are once again tied for number one. Several other universities also maintained their top rankings including Wake Forest, which tied for 28 with Tufts University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While we are pleased to be part of such esteemed company, it’s important to look beyond the numbers when evaluating the quality of a university. The magazine’s director of data research, Robert J. Morse, acknowledges as much in an article explaining how the rankings are calculated. “Certainly, the college experience consists of a host of intangibles that cannot be reduced to numbers,” Morse writes along with co-author Samuel Flanigan.

In our society of rankings, everything from vacuum sweepers to health care to universities, there is a tendency to think that we are all the same. That we all offer the same basic features, but that there is a linear progression of best to worst. That is, like vacuum sweepers, they all suck up the dirt – the goal – but some are better than others and you should buy the best that you can afford! But the truth is that universities and colleges have different missions and values, different strengths and different characters and cultures, and while they all provide an education and a college degree, they don’t all do it for the same function.

Scientific Advances in Society and Conflict

Scientific Advances in Society and Conflict
In order to respond to the above statement fully, I have chosen three different examples of ?scientific advances? that have had a major effect on society in the recent years. These are Animal Experimentation, Cloning and Cryogenics. I will be giving a brief definition of each term, and then describing the conflicts they cause, highlighting the arguments for and against. Animal experimentation has caused many a conflict within society. As many as 2.5 million animals were experimented on in 2000. Although there were twice as many in the 1970s, many people and animal rights campaigners have protested against any form of animal experimentation. Many of their arguments were based on the fact that it is morally wrong to use animals in experiments. They argue that animals have just as much rights as humans do and animals dying in experiments are unnecessary and is no different from murder. However, many scientists and people who believe the advantages of animal testing are far greater than the disadvantages, respond by saying that human life has greater intrinsic value than animal life. To further this, they will also argue that millions of animals are killed for food, and so dying in the name of medical research is a far more worthy death. In addition to moral arguments, there are also scientific arguments as to whether animal experimentation is effective. Some people argue that animal experiments are misleading. How does one know that an animal?s response to a drug would be the same to a human?s? Also, the stress animals endure from being caged up may affect the experiment making the overall result meaningless.
