2. Quantity: This is always a major factor in price. The more you order the cheaper the flag - this is mainly due to labour costs. I...

Temperture's Effect on Beet Membranes

Temperture's Effect on Beet Membranes
Aim: To investigate the effect of temperature on membrane structure Hypothesis: The higher the temperature, the greater the amount of pigment that leaves the beetroot cell. 1. An increase in temperature increases the kinetic energy of the molecules within the cell, raising the rate of diffusion of pigment out of the cell across the differentially permeable cell membrane. 2. A further increase in temperature will cause the protein molecules in the cell membrane to change shape, i.e. becoming denatured. As a result, the red pigment in the vacuole will, together with the cytoplasm, leak out through the damaged membrane. Colour leakage will hence increase more significantly. Apparatus and procedure Alterations to the procedure To wash away excess dye, the newly cut beetroot slices are not left overnight but 2 minutes only, in order to save time

Write Your Racial Profiling Essay Tactfully
Due to Its Controversial Nature the Racial Profiling Essay Should be Handled Carefully

A racial profiling essay is an interesting essay assignment. There are many issues related to racism. One of these issues is racial profiling. Racial profiling can occur anywhere. For example, a law enforcement officer may use a person’s colour or ethnic background or religion rather than a person’s behaviour to make an arrest or any other enforcement. This is a grave injustice to human rights. Similarly people may be subjected racial profiling when being recruited, promoted, or terminated in the work environment. Organisations such as Amnesty International are non governmental organizations which focus on ensuring people are not subjected to racism and have their rights violated. However, even with the lobbying of such organizations, there are many incidents which occur due to racial profiling.

Hot Water in a Immersion Heater

Hot Water in a Immersion Heater
Background Knowledge: Water may be used to heat up water during the night using an immersion heater this is to take advantage of the cheap rate of electricity. But the problem is to keep the waterÂ?s heat till the time when it is used. E.g. for a bath or washing up. Immersion heaters are used in many homes and are very efficient. They insulate heat well, this is because most of them have an insulated jacket which is mainly made out of a fibre glass wool and are coated with a bright colour this is because fibre glass wool is very thick and does have many air holes in it. This is good because heat air is a good conductor of heat and a bad insulator of heat, therefore the fewer the air holes the fewer the heat is that is conducted. Also the being as the wool has an outer colour coat which is bright this is also good as bright colours are good emitters of heat. I will conduct my own experiment to see if what other materials are good insulators of heat, by making my own mini boiler jackets and testing them.

An Investigation into the Effect on the Critical Angle by Changing the Colour of Light

An Investigation into the Effect on the Critical Angle by Changing the Colour of Light
An Investigation into the Effect on the Critical Angle by Changing the Colour of Light Aim: To investigate the factors affecting the size of the critical angle through a median of Perspex Background Information: The critical angle of light is when it hits a different median from the one it had been travelling in, for example glass to air at a certain angle that causes total internal reflection. This angle is different for all lights and medians. Total internal reflection is when a beam of light travelling through a certain median is reflected back at an angle that is equal to its incidence instead of just being refracted and then passing out the other side. This phenomenon is used to transmit information through fibre optic cables.

Determining the Effect of Different Sugar Concentrations on Benedict's Solution

Determining the Effect of Different Sugar Concentrations on Benedict's Solution
planning: Hypothesis and prediction: My hypothesis is that the sugar solution with the highest concentration will turn the precipitate the darkest colour. This will be the 10% sugar solution. This is because the more amount of sugar it contains the more it will reduce the Copper. It will be a much darker precipitate compared to the other two. Background theory: Benedict?s solution is an aqueous solution of Copper (II) Sulphate, Sodium carbonate and Sodium citrate. It is an alkaline solution used to test for the presence of aldehyde groups (rcho). The reducing sugar (Glucose) reduces the copper (II) Sulphate to Copper (I) oxide. The colour of the precipitate varies dependent on the strength of the reducing sugar present. The colour can vary from blue to red-brick: indicating a high concentration of sugar. Glucose contains an aldehyde group, so it is able to reduce the Benedict?s solution and form a precipitate. An aldehyde contains the general formula; rcho, where the R represents Hydrogen.

Portraits Through the Ages

Portraits Through the Ages
There have been various art movements since the beginning of art impressionism, cubism, and surrealism to name just a few. The first artist is the world famous Picasso. He was born in 1881 in Malaga in the south of Spain and died in 1973. He moved to Paris in April 1904 as this was the art capital of the world at this time. He is probably one of the most innovative and creative artists of the 20th century and is remembered especially for beginning the art movement of cubism. His self portrait of ?1906? is the one I chose to start with. It is oil on canvas and was painted early on in his career. It is a head to waist composition. The background looks like a textured plain blue which I fell emphasizes the actual drawing of Picasso. He is wearing his work clothes and is carrying a paint palette to show that he is an artist. Picasso_Self06.jpg I like the colour of this painting, it is quite realistic but he also uses a lot of blue colours as he did in his painting around this time as this was painted during the Spanish civil war and many of his family or relatives were living in Spain at the time. I love the way Picasso shows how he is felling through the colour of his paintings.
